The Lamoreaux offers apartment homes and stability to individuals who have experienced homelessness. The property offers efficiency apartments, on-site laundry, and community rooms. Apartments are available as project-based Section 8; some utilize GRH (Group Residential Housing) funding through Hennepin County. Enhanced supportive services are provided to residents through a joint partnership between Aeon and Simpson Housing Services. Residents will be connected to an on-site case manager. The on-site supportive services team is built upon Aeon's Resident Connections program model to provide resources and community involvement opportunities for residents. A front desk, staffed 24 hours a day, offers added support. All prospective residents must be referred by a social service provider to complete a qualified application through Simpson Housing Services. Development History In the early 1990s, Aeon renovated the vacant and boarded Lamoreaux at the request of the City of Minneapolis, creating a quality home for 34 formerly homeless persons. In 2003, Aeon completed a three-story vertical addition adding 39 efficiency apartments to the community. The Lamoreaux has been recognized with numerous awards, including "Project of the Year" award from the Minnesota Construction Association. The Lamoreaux, along with The Lamoreaux Expansion and The Continental Hotel, is part of Aeon's Opportunity Housing Program that serves individuals who have experienced long-term homelessness. In total, Aeon has 485 units designated for individuals who have experienced homelessness.
