LEED certification provides independent, third-party verification that a building was designed and built using strategies aimed at achieving high performance in key areas of human and environmental health. For Santa Cecilia, that includes the ways in which the community and site were designed, the energy efficiency of the building and its systems, like air conditioners, lighting, appliances, and the hot water system, the materials that were used in the building, the plumbing fixtures that save water, and the ventilation systems and materials that affect indoor air quality.
