For almost a century, 2003 Greene Street has been home to quality institutions bringing value, presence, and service to Columbia’s village neighborhood. Opening its doors in 1928, Claussen’s Bakery built a prominent business baking breads and goods and shipping them to towns across the region. The building was a proud achievement for both its pioneers and Columbia. Its breadth of accomplishment across commerce, industry, and architecture brought it prominent status on the National Register of Historic Places in 1987. Since that time, the building converted to a locally-owned inn, featuring many of the original features of historic bakery, welcoming visitors to Columbia to a snapshot of history in one of our most iconic districts.
