Built in 1905 and designed by local architect William B. Reid, The Weldon was originally used as housing for a local manufacturer of metals and tools. It is said the name “Weldon” came from a contraction of the term “Well Done”. Being the first all concrete building in all of The United States added to its already unique reputation. It was then converted into a hotel that was known as one of the grandest destinations in the area, home to numerous gatherings, balls, and social events. The Weldon was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1980 augmenting its allure and historical significance. Shortly thereafter, in 1982, it was converted to low-income elderly apartment housing featuring 105 apartments, all with unique floor plans!
Located in Greenfield, Massachusetts on the Deerfield River in a downtown setting only a few minutes was to some of the best shopping, dining, and entertainment in the area.
