Of the Presidio's many picturesque neighborhoods, Wyman Avenue is perhaps its most hard to find gem. Concealed behind a fine-printing press and a preschool in the historic Public Health Service District, these duplexes and single-family homes once housed physicians serving at the former hospital up the hill. Built between 1915 and 1932, they have since been carefully rehabilitated and modernized, preserving their historic character but with an eye on sustainability. Despite its proximity to the bustling Richmond District, the scene within the Wyman Avenue neighborhood is serene. Wyman homes overlook the active restoration underway at Mountain Lake. The area also sits at the intersection of three major trails that wind their way to the Pacific Ocean, the Golden Gate Bridge, and through the heart of the Presidio Golf Course on the way to Crissy Field. A visit to the nearby Lobos Valley Overlook reveals another of the Presidio's best-kept secrets: a front row seat to the spectacular sunsets over the Pacific. The PresidiGo Shuttle stops here en route to the Main Post, and multiple MUNI lines run just outside the 14th Avenue Gate.
